The Public Lyceum Releases Analysis of Invisible Inventory Affecting Triangle Housing Supply
RALEIGH, N.C. — The Public Lyceum today released its flagship research report, "The Hidden Housing Bottleneck: Why Properties in Raleigh Fail to Sell," examining the phenomenon of invisible inventory in the Triangle region's housing market.
The report analyzes properties that exist but cannot be sold due to title complications, lien encumbrances, probate delays, ownership disputes, and other legal and financial barriers. These properties represent a significant constraint on housing supply that is absent from standard market metrics.
"Invisible inventory is a hidden but significant factor in the Triangle's housing affordability challenges," said a spokesperson for The Public Lyceum. "By illuminating this phenomenon, we aim to inform policy discussions and support efforts to expand housing supply through the resolution of stuck properties."
"The Hidden Housing Bottleneck" is the first in a series of reports examining invisible inventory and its effects on housing markets. The report draws on public records, court filings, property data, and interviews with real estate professionals.
