The team and governance structure behind The Public Lyceum
As Executive Director of The Public Lyceum, Cecil Jones Jr. leads strategic direction, program development, and organizational operations. Under his leadership, the organization is committed to advancing public education in housing stability, financial literacy, and economic mobility through independent research, media initiatives, and community engagement.
Mr. Jones brings extensive experience in nonprofit leadership and public education, working in coordination with the Board of Directors and Advisory Council to ensure organizational mission alignment, fiscal responsibility, and programmatic excellence.
The Public Lyceum operates under the governance of a board of directors committed to organizational mission, fiscal oversight, and strategic direction. The board is currently expanding to include diverse perspectives from education, housing, finance, and community development sectors.
An advisory council of subject matter experts provides guidance on research methodology, program development, and community engagement. Council members represent diverse backgrounds in housing policy, financial education, and nonprofit leadership.
The Public Lyceum is a non-commercial, non-profit organization. We do not sell products or services. All educational content is freely available to the public. We do not accept advertising or paid placements. Our work is funded through grants, foundations, and charitable contributions from aligned institutions and individuals who support public education.
The organization maintains policies to prevent conflicts of interest and ensure independent decision-making. Board members, staff, and advisory council members are required to disclose any potential conflicts and recuse themselves from decisions where a conflict may exist. Financial contributors do not have voting power or decision-making authority over editorial content, research findings, or educational materials.
Educational content is developed independently and is not influenced by financial contributors. All research, reports, and educational materials undergo editorial review to ensure accuracy, balance, and adherence to our public-interest mission. Underwriting support is acknowledged publicly but does not affect the integrity or conclusions of our educational content.
The Public Lyceum operates as a public education initiative of Pieces of a Dream Foundation, a North Carolina nonprofit corporation.
Pieces of a Dream Foundation has applied for recognition as a tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Donations may be tax-deductible once final IRS determination is received.
